It's Okay to Be a Princess!

It’s okay to be a princess.

Yes.  It’s okay to be a princess.

And, having said, it’s okay to be a princess, I’m much more able to prioritize, choose, and act.  So, I decided I need to write this down, for me and for you.  Since it’s much too cold on this crisp fall morning to warm up my bathrobe, I’m snugged back under still toasty down comforters.  And, as my thoughts show up on my laptop I’m very clear.  I’m getting up for nothing until I’ve got my thoughts down and posted.

Some time, shortly after my last post I began to tell myself the same message I’ve gotten over the years from people who don’t know.  That is, that this princess and the pea sensitivity is something made up to get attention.  (Blasphemy!)  And, the whole princess and the pea notion is invalid.  (Wrong!)  Interesting choice of words since, ignoring your ADHD hypersensitivity is a sure way to become an invalid.  Dishonor yourself and your body will simply turn up the volume.

Question yourself, your nature, your purpose and you might as well throw up a cement wall.  And, that’s what happened.  I was going to say stop sign, but I know if I feel like it, well, I could just run that.  A road block, a little harder, but could be passed.  A cement wall? is, well, quite a bit more challenging.  And, one of the cool things about being an AD/HD princess is that anything that we might find in our path, we have the tools to pass.  You don’t believe in the word no, right?

The truth that is critical to remember is this.  You can’t change being a princess any more than you can change your genetics.  Your super-sensitivity is a factor of your AD/HD.  And, your ADHD is in your genes.

Are you, or do you question your nature?

How’s the volume in your body?  What’s it saying?

Is it humming along?  Is it yelling, whining, or digging in?

And, if it’s quiet, is it because your aren’t listening?
